Social Action Happenings
Phil Stein, Chairperson

Please join us as we return to spruce up the 5th Street Park (at Gordon and 5th Streets) on April 25th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. You may join us for as short or long as you prefer. This is a joint effort of the Temple Beth Men’s Club and Social Action Committee, and the Friends of Allentown Parks. The effort is also part of the Interfaith Community week of service coordinated by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. We may also be joined by the Fairgrounds Neighborhood Association and, rumor has it, some terrific cub scouts. This project will involve weeding and mulching and some light painting. If you have some garden tools such as rakes, shovels, spades or wheelbarrows, please bring them. To protect your hands, you might want to bring garden gloves. Snacks will be provided. After the cleanup, there is an interfaith community potluck celebration at 4:45 PM at Congregation Kenneseth Israel.

The first cleanup of the park in November was very rewarding and fun. Lots of neighborhood children joined in the effort. So if you want to do a wonderful mitzvah to brighten the lives of inner city youth and their parents, please mark your calendars for this memorable community service event.

For further information, please contact Phil Stein, Social Action Committee Chairperson, phlstein@yahoo.com or by phone, 610-653-5231. Happy Holidays to All!
